BioShock MMO Rumors

A few days ago 2K games announced a X-Com reboot, resulting in players worldwide dropping a tear or two. But that’s not all, according to Destructiod‘s mysterious sources, there is a BioShock MMO in the works. I’ll give you a minute to think about it.

Done? That was fast. Now, 2K have always shown interest in an MMO based on the universe created by Irrational Games(seriously, why did they have to give it up, BioShock 2 is just a slighty upgraded BioShock) and this may come as no surprise for hardcore fans. What’s your take on this? Would you play a BioShock MMO?

  1. I can see the underlying systems translating into an MMO fairly easily. My worry would be the world it takes place in. I really think that MMO’s need a larger variety of places to explore and fight in than just what is in Bioshock. How they go about expanding that universe will make a huge difference in the game’s viability.

  2. Would love to see it. The underwater world could be unimaginably large. The oceans are huge and cities can be expanded into underwater mountains to infinite scales, after all, it is fantasy. Make a completely customizable character with making your own tonics, plasmids and steampunk weapons. Make campaigning and war among factions (guilds). I thing this could be expansive beyond imagination with a mad world undersea. As a fan I would love to see this happen

  3. OOohhhhh imagine… a System Shock MMO. It would be DAoC style RvR with three sides: Shodan, The Many and Man/Humans/Mortals.

If playing for Shodan the character archetypes or classes would be kinds of cyborgs with different roles or even full robots, if playing for The Many the player chooses types of mutants instead to perform different roles and if playing for Man/Humans/Mortals/etc the player chooses different professions. For instance, the tank class for The Many would be a rumbler, the stealthy class for Shodan would be a cyborg assassin, the healer class for Man would be a medic of OSA or a technician of the Navy. That would be

cyberpunk MMO. I have never before paid for an online game, but if that stuff came out I would be the first to subscribe
