Have you ever desired to play as a fisherman in an MMO? Well now you can!  Square Enix has announced that there will be a grand total of 18 classes in Final Fantasy XIV from the obscure mining class to the magical conjurer.  Each of these classes fall under their own disciple.  There are four disciples in total, the first being the disciple of war followed by the disciple of magic, the disciple of land, and the disciple of hand. Each of these groups house specific classes that relate to their corresponding disciple.  For instance, the disciple of hand houses classes such as the blacksmith and carpenter.  Each of these classes has their own unique abilities and fighting styles.  It will be your job to decide which class fits your playing style best, luckily you have plenty of options!

Along with announcing the 18 classes of the game, Square Enix has also revealed the pre-order bonus for the standard edition of the game.  If you so choose to pre-order a copy of FFXIV then you will receive the Garlond Goggles.  This is an in-game item which your character can wear on his or hers eyes.  These goggles are a expertly crafted and provide the player with a stat bonus that will increase the speed at which your skills progress.

Now for those of you who have been selected and are currently playing the beta, you will notice that not all classes are available for play quite yet.  This is nothing to worry about.  Square Enix is just trying to give you a taste of the game before it releases.  Sure this means that they aren’t players testing the other classes, but then again it also adds a little bit of intrigue and surprise to the game’s release.  Players are guaranteed that all 18 classes will be available to play day 1 of Final Fantasy’s launch.  Everyone should start looking forward to getting their hands on this game very soon, and for more information, head over to the official FFXIV site for all news concerning giant yellow birds and more!

  1. Fishing has always been one of my favorite non-combat activities. Though, I’ve never played any Final Fantasy game, either on or offline.

Maybe I’m missing out on more than I know :O

  2. Fishing is pretty boring in FF11, and many people use a bot to fish. Hopefully this is more exciting.

Hopefully these goggles fetch a decent price when I sell them! I’m guessing you get goggle with preorder of both limited & normal edition.

  3. why have a whole class for just fishing?on wow i can save the world and fish all i want, all with a single class…

thats one of the best features of FFXIV being able to combine classes. you cant do that on wow you have to create a whole nother char. and say for the sake of arguement, if the class your currntly playing uses leather armor types if the class you want to change to can also use that armor it saves you the effort of haveing to buy all new armor just to play that class.
